Turn off your phone for a while. It's my understanding that these alerts have a limited time window. If your phone is off during a Tornado warning, you don't get the warning when you turn your phone back on the next day.

Honestly, this may be a legitimate system set up for emergencies, like Amber alerts or flood alerts, but if there is something so bad going down that everyone in the country needs immediate notification, then we’re all screwed anyway.

I’m ok with the concep, but only if it has a truly limited scope where the use is permitted.
Today was highly annoying though because there were three of us in a work truck. We each have a work phone and separate personal phone. We had six phones going off in a small truck cab. That was horrible.
